Lindsborg, Kansas

So, on my way to Oklahoma I drove 5 miles out of my way and spent over an hour-and-a-half in the town of Lindsborg, Kansas. "Why?", you ask. Well, Lindsborg was founded by Swedish imigrants and is home of a Scandinavian import company I've ordered from several times. I actually got to go to their brick and mortar store and speak with them and enjoy the town. Pretty cool place. I called Jenn while I was there and told here that if we ever left Cache Valley I know where we would move. I mean really, How can you not love a town with a chamber of commerce that looks like this.

Finger

So, it's been 20 days. That's better than 9 months.

I'm here in Oklahoma now. Things are going well. However, last week my finger just went, well, wierd on me.

It started swelling up. I ignored it. On day #4 I decided to get it looked at. I went to the ER here on post on President's Day. It was grossly infected and swollen up with puss. I got a shot of novicane or some deadening injection on each side of the finger. That didn't do it. Another two shots. Then the doc started cutting. Then I told him I could feel it. Another two shots.

He cut my finger open pretty deep and squoze (sp?) out a bunch of junk. At one point he said, "I got it. The abscess pocket was pretty deep there, but I got it." Eww. Then he packed it and told me I had to go back every day for heaven knows how long to remove the packing and stuff new in the wound.

That lasted two days. I'm taking care of it myself now. Looking pretty good. Not hurting too bad. And, I don't have a doc stuffing junk up into my wound (Army docs aren't the most gentle around). Too bad this week we are doing combative training including a lot of wrestling. I'm sure that won't hurt my finger.

9 months? Really?

Ok. So, it's been 9 months. I figure now is as good a time as any to begin again. I am leaving for 5 months straight for more Army training. I leave in three days and will try to keep this up-to-date to let you know what I am doing.

Also, I will have a load of free time while I travel so hopefully I will see some cool things and be able to share them with you.

That's pretty much it. I haven't left yet so not much to update yet. Oh, except my sister-in-law is getting married to a pretty cool guy who is actually taller than I am. And, my other sister-in-law is moving in to keep my wife company while I am gone. So, you hear that bad guys? There will be two Madsen women in the house. Oh, and Wheezy. So, stay away.
